To celebrate Adopt a Senior Pet Month, we’re featuring The Grey Muzzle on PetravelR’s™ Adopt a Friend. The Grey Muzzle is not a shelter or rescue group. Instead, it works to improve the lives of at-risk senior dogs by providing funding and resources to animal shelters, rescue organizations, sanctuaries, and other non-profit groups nationwide. Grey Muzzle funds programs such as hospice care, senior dog adoption, medical screening, and other special programs to help old dogs at animal welfare organizations across the country.
- Old dogs contribute positively to our quality of life and have much to teach us about patience, respect, responsibility, loyalty, and unconditional love.
- Senior dogs are not disposable; they depend on us to care for them through all stages of their lives.
- Every senior dog deserves to live out their golden years, months, weeks or even days in a place of love, security, and peace.
Since 2008, Grey Muzzle has provided more than $420,000 in grants to senior dog programs. Grey Muzzle has supported over 50 nonprofit organizations in 27 states. Grey Muzzle also maintains a Bed Fund that has disbursed more than $32,000 in orthopedic bed donations to nonprofit shelters around the country.
The Grey Muzzle needs more volunteers! Although they are based in North Carolina, you can support their mission from your computer where ever you live with one the many “virtual” volunteer opportunities, including Public Relations, Website/Social Media Analytics & Reporting, Search Engine Optimization (SEO) Support, Virtual Administration. and News Department Volunteers. The Grey Muzzle Organization is also looking for local Ambassadors, special volunteers to help spread awareness of Grey Muzzle’s mission in your own city.
