Second Chance Bird Rescue works to rehabilitate birds who have behavior issues. They believe that all feathered family members deserve a second chance to find a home and a loving family to join. Each home is carefully screened, and investigated in person, to help assure that each placement is as smooth and well suited as possible.  No bird is adopted to a person it shows an obvious dislike for, and no person is allowed to adopt a bird before completing placement visits and screening in order to ensure each bird is placed in the right home.

SCRB strives to provide the local community with educational programs that enlighten community members about the various birds and the commitment required to care for them.  They provide routine field trips to enrich the educational awareness and potentially improve relations between the community and Second Chance Bird Rescue.

Every year thousands of birds are being surrendered, yet more birds are being born in breeding programs.  There are many sweet and talented birds who need a loving home – their previous owners didn’t recognize what they had. You can provide a loving bird a second chance by adopting from SCBR.

Things to consider before adoption:

  • Adoption provides a bird a second chance
  • Birds require regular avian veterinary care
  • Birds thrive on attention, and will do anything to get yours
  • Not all parrots talk! While many may eventually learn to mimic or talk, it is not certain yours will
  • A parrot can live for 50 years and beyond; a pet that will require care for many years to come
  • Birds are messy and can be very noisy

If you can’t commit to an adoption,  If you can’t commit to an adoption, consider supporting one of the many parrots at Second Chance Bird Rescue who may never be permanently re-homed due to medical or behavioral issues. By sponsoring one of these parrots you are single-handedly providing support for his or her independent care.

SCBR morgan_dexterThere are many other ways to support Second Chance Bird Rescue.  Make a tax-deductible donation to help feed, shelter, and care for birds who have been abandoned, abused, and/or forgotten. Your donations will directly care for a bird that can have a better life, with a new family that will ensure its future is safe and secure.  You can also donate bird food, toys, and items from the SCBR wish list.  And last, but never least – volunteers are always needed to help within the rescue!
